Father's Day Lessons and Resources: For a wonderful resource about the incredible love and commitment of one father to his disabled son. See: The Father Son Video link is: http://www.godtube.com/watch/?v=JMEE1NNU When Dick's son was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck it caused his son to have severe cerebral palsy. They were determined to give Rick as much of a normal life as possible. When Rick was 15 he asked his Dad (though the use of a computer) if he would push his wheel chair for a charity for a paralysed boy. He said to his Dad that he wanted to show everyone that life goes on. Dick wasn't a runner but when he heard his son say that when he races it feels like his disability disappears, that was all Dick needed to hear. Now Rick is 44 and Dick is 66, together they have run 950 races, 60 marathons and competed in triathlons where Dick pulls, pushes and carries his son Rick. I have attached the English Corner Father’s Day lesson that goes with this video.
