                  By the end of the course:
                  • You have the skills to start your own English classes
                  • Assess the levels of your students
                  • Design a syllabus 
                  • Create fun, innovative, communicative lessons covering, reading, writing, listening, speaking, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary 
                  • You will know how to assess and evaluate your students
                  • You will learn the importance of knowing your students' world view and cultural backgrounds
                  • Think through your teaching philosophy and approach and how this applies to your ministry / church / school / university / or language centre

                  CERTIFICATE IV IN TEACHING CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH

                  Accreditation No. 30664 QLD (TESOL) (for mono-lingual and multi-lingual English speakers)

                  Course Outline
                  The course is comprised of 9 units of competency. Six were developed especially for this course:
                  • TCE 411B Communicate with People from Other Cultures
                  • TCE 412B Identify Language Learning Needs
                  • TCE 413B Demonstrate Language Teaching Strategies
                  • TCE 415B Manage Language Class Activities
                  • TCE 418B Identify Language Difficulties and Correct Errors
                  • TCE 419B Select and Apply Language Learning Resources
                  Three units from the Nationally Recognized training package Training and Assessment (TAA40104) these are:
                  • TAADEL301B Provide Training Through Demonstration of Work Skills
                  • TAADEL401B Plan and Organize Group Based Delivery
                  • TAADEL402B Facilitate Group Based Learning
                  Time Commitment: 250 hours. Teaching Practice 25 hours.

                  Trainers will assist students in arranging lesson observations and practice teaching. High quality mentoring of trainees is a core value of this course. This is a full Cert IV qualification in TESOL PLUS extras.

                  Entry Requirements
                  Mono-Lingual English Speakers:
                  • Year 10 level
                  Multi-Lingual English Speakers:
                  • English proficiency at native speaker level or near native speaker level (IELTS score of 5.5 or similar level from another recognised English test) is an entry requirement. 
                  • If you don't have an IESTS score or other recognised English level you can complete the ITA intake test. If you pass you can enter the Certificate IV course. If you don't pass you can enrol in the English for TESOL course. Near the end of the course you can re-take the ITA test and if you pass, you can upgrade to the Government Certificate IV course by doing additional assessment and teaching practice hours. 
                  • Working holiday visa only
